Anthony J Aristei ('Tony') was admitted to practice in Western Australia in 1985, and admitted as an independent barrister in 1996. With over 30 years of legal experience, Tony has a wealth of experience in acting for a wide range of clients, and has provided advice and representation in over a thousand cases during that time.
Tony has acted as counsel in at least a dozen high profile or reported cases over the years (that is, in the Western Australian Law Reports, State Reports or various Federal Reports).
In addition to from his practical experience, Tony is an accomplished legal writer. He was the foundation author of the popular Nutshell students’ text on real property law. He also published the first and second editions of an annotated commentary on retail shops law in Western Australia (in 2007 and 2010 respectively). In addition, he has written numerous Law Society of Western Australia and LexisNexis seminar papers (primarily in the areas of property, equity and trusts law).
Currently, Tony is the President of the Western Australia branch of the Anglo-Australasian Lawyers Society (AALS). Amongst other things, AALS aims to preserve and promote the existing good relations between members of the legal profession in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, and also provides social and academic functions for its members.
Some highlights of Tony’s achievements in Law to date include:
- 1986 – admitted to legal practice before the Supreme Courts of Victoria and New South Wales
- 1991 – completed a Masters of Laws degree (with Distinction) at the University of Western Australia (UWA)
- 1993 – awarded a Chevening Scholarship (BTR/FCO) to complete postgraduate research at Oxford University (UK)
- 1994 – completed a Master of Studies in Law at Oxford University (UK)
